Santiago de Compostela to Muxia (by bus)

Hostel Bela Muxia

Today is a rest day. I stayed in bed in my cell in the Semenario until 8:00, consumed the usual Spanish breakfast and headed for the door to find it bucketing down. As l had plenty of time before my bus to Muxia outwaited the rain before heading for the bus station.

The bus trip here was pleasant although as usual for Galacia there were millions of eucalyptus trees. Suprisingly the sun was out when I arrived.

The Albergue here is excellent. Nice new facilities with pleany of space between the beds which is unusual as usually less space equals more beds and increased income.

Many of the walkers here are finishing their Camino having walked from Santiago de Compostela whereas I am going the other way, starting here and finishing in Santiago.

After settling in I walked the end of the headland and to the Camino starting point, kilometre zero, where there are great views of the Atlantic Ocean. I also visited Santuario da Virxe da Barca. It is a church that is obviously dedicated to sailors and while it was locked the internals could be photographed through a mesh screen. It looked like it would have been a nice place to inspect further.

Tomorrow I commence walking again
