Spain 2024

Ruined Horreo.JPG

After 18 months away it is time to return to Spain and attempt to walk another Camino.

This year the plan is to walk the Camino Aragones from Somport in the Pyrenees to Puente la Reina where the Aragones joins the Camino Frances. This less travelled route and will provide an opportunity to visit the Canfranc Station (previously abandoned and now a luxury hotel) as well as Jaca with it well preserved Star Fort.

From Puente la Reina we plan to travel to Burgos for a day and revisit the Cathedral before moving on to Sahagun where I completed the Camino de Madrid in 2022.

Provided it is not too busy we will follow the Camino Frances from Sahagun through Leon to Ponferrada  and the start of the Camino Inverno (providing we do not again take an incorrect turn and get lost as has been the case on two previous visits to that city).

The plan is then to follow the Camion Inverno (also known as the Winter Camino) into Santiago de Compostela.

It goes without saying that all of the above is subject to the body still being up to the challenge.

Walking with me this year will be my cousin Kate who will travel from Somport through to Leon and friend Paul (veteran of many previous Caminos) who will join us in Burgos and travel through to Santiago.

Commencing around May 7 then Blog will be updated daily.
