Breakfast this morning was a banana (breakfast was not served at the hotel until 9:00am).
As arranged the dinner last night we met Jaun (retired Spanish surgeon) and Gabby (Czech Republic physiotherapist) at 7:00 and immediately headed up the mountain only to become lost in a very wet paddock 15 minutes later.
On regaining the correct path we continued climbing for approximately 400 meters past Cruz de Salvador to the Collado del Canto de la Tusa (1580m). The views on the climb were spectacular and well worth the effort. From the Collado we descended nearly 100 meters only to gain most of it again to cross another high point before descending to Puerto de Pajares where there was a bar and a coffee could be obtained.
The decent from the pass was very steep and slow through mainly forest with patches of grazing land with cattle and horses.
We stopped for a short rest at San Miguel del Rio before taking a very steep road up to Santa Maria and a goat track lined with many chestnut trees through to Chanos where we arrived with very wet feet.
Today has been the hardest day on the Camino and my left knee so far.
Tonight the four of us are staying in a very nice private Albergue where the proprietor will provide an evening meal at around 7:00pm

Hope you both don't get foot rot, hate having wet feet. Keep on tracking, cheers Mal.
