Albergue Ponte Ferreira, Lugo to Ponte Ferreira, 27.5 Km, 28 May 2025

Being very organised, Phil had me out of bed, packed and heading out of Lugo before 7:00am. As today’s forecast was for hot weather the early start was not an issue particularly as it was to be a relatively long day.

Surprisingly we left the city in a heavy mist that did not burn off until just before 11:00 making the early part of the walk very pleasant.

The walk today was through the usual farm land and patches of native vegetation (which included plantations of eucalyptus). There were very nice sections although there was more road walking than we would have liked.

While we are not the fastest walkers around, we were first to arrive at our Albergue completing the 27.5 kilometres in 5 hours and 25 minutes including two stops for refreshments.

We are now just over 70 kilometres out of Santiago de Compostela and have pre booked all of our forward accommodation.

At the completion of tomorrow’s walk we will meet the Camino Frances and will join with the thousands of pilgrims walking into Santiago.
