Yesterday afternoon the proprietor in our hotel begrudgingly served us two beers and a glass of Rose in between serving at a 50th anniversary function for local residents.
As it was Sunday all of the restaurants in the village as well as our hotel were closed for the evening and for a while it looked as if we were going to have to go to bed hungry. In our walk through the village we eventually found an open Kebab shop and were able to obtain something to eat.
This morning we awoke to light rain which followed us for the first hour of our walk through the usual pretty French countryside.
Apart from the cereal crops and oaks there was little unusual to see apart from a pile of rice topped with several eggs on the side of the road. We are still looking for an explanation to this unusual sighting.
The walk today was overcast, cool and flat and very easy walking
After walking through Forêt (Forest) Donaniale de Bastard we reached the outskirts of Pau and the three kilometre walk to the city centre.
On arrival we checked into our hotel before heading to Boulevard Des Pyrenees for the views of the mountains. Unfortunately due to the weather nothing could be seen.
We then adjourned to a nearby bar and later for our evening meal at a very popular and very French bistro.
