Last night we stayed at a very nice Albergue in Medina de Rioseco. The only issue was the elephant in the bunk bed above me (Phil). Every time he turned over the bunk unit was on the verge of collapse ind I feared for my life.

Phil had me up at 6:30am and in the town centre by 7:00 to meet Jen and Dave.

After a disappointing breakfast (the worst tostada in Spain) we headed out of town along the canal. This section of the De Madrid is probably the most picturesque section of this Camino.

We stopped for a an early lunch in Tanariz de Canpos (outside the closed bar and next to the municipal offices) before again heading for our destination. A kilometre down the road we had to make a major decision. Do we follow the yellow arrows or follow the VP-4008 and reduce the distance to walk by 4 kilometres. Being conscientious pilgrims we immediately voted to take the shorter route.

On arrival in Cuenca da Campos we checked into another excellent donation Albergue before heading out for a long lunch at the La Tata Restaurante.

I know England has heaps of canals - are there many in Spain and do they have barges like in Holland and England?
