When we awoke this morning it was raining lightly and by the time we finished breakfast the rain had upped the ante and turned into a downpour. As we only had 20Km to walk we decided to wait it out and eventually left our Albergue at 10:15.
Due to the rain we decided to abandon the marked way through the cereal fields and stick to the carraterra (bitumen). While our feet remained relatively dry, the walk was long, straight and boring.
We eventually arrived in Sahagun at around 2:30 and immediately sort out a meal in a small bar frequented by pilgrims walking down the Camino Frances.
Given that there were only around 5 pilgrims a day walking the de Madrid, seeing the numbers on the Frances was a bit daunting.
While in Sahagun we were able to obtain a half way certificate from the La Divina Peregrina church and certificates for completion of the Camino de Madrid.
Shortly we will be boarding a train for Leon where we will catch up with Jen and Dave and take a rest day before heading onto the Camino de San Salvador.
