Today we completed the Camino San Salvador, and for the first time since we left Leon we arrived with dry feet.
We commenced walking around 8:00am after breakfast at our hotel. Phil and I with our usual 8 Kg packs and Jaun with 12 Kg. Previously weight was not an issue for Jaun as his pack we being transported. Today for the first time he had to carry it and he described it as having a gorilla on his back.
While we are out of the mountains today was not all plain sailing as there were a couple of stiff 200 meter climbs.
We were able to get refreshments at about half way at the village of Olloniego before heading onto the usual Spanish goat tracks. One issue I neglected to add to my track description yesterday was the fact that many of the tracks have streams running down them making it almost impossible to maintain dry feet.
We arrive in Oviedo around 2:00 pm and found the Cathedral closed so we used the intervening time to check into our hotel and have a meal of farber beans (a specialty in this area)
Just after 4:00 pm we visited the Cathedral, had our credentials stamped and received our Salvadorans (certificate for completing the San Salvador). We then said goodbye to or friend and mentor Jaun and headed back to our hotel for the remainder of the afternoon.
Tomorrow is a rest day where we will catch up with our washing and buy a replacement stick for the one I destroyed 2 days ago.
To date we have walked a total of 375 Km on the de Madrid and San Salvador.
Observing the pilgrims here in Oviedo I suspect that the Camino Primitivo will be much busier than either the de Madrid or San Salvador.

Well done completing ftrst leg, great photos John.
