While it rained last night, the weather this morning was cool and promised a nice day. Today we headed up the Vallee d’Aspe into the Pyrenees. The route follows the Gave d’Aspe through the small and pretty villages of Bidos, Luther-Saint-Christau and Escot before arriving in Sarrance.

The views between Oloron Saint-Marie and Escot were spectacular with the Pyrenees mountains constantly in the background.

From Escot to Sarrance we were in a ravine on a narrow path high above the river where a misplaced foot could cause you a serious injury.

While we did not gain a lot of altitude during the day the walk was the best on this camino to date.

On arrival at our hotel there was a certain amount of confusion as they had not recorded our booking or prepared rooms for us. Notwithstanding Jane quickly had the issue sorted an all was rectified while we had a quiet drink in the sunshine.
