This morning we awoke to a serious thunderstorm with rain bucketing down. By the time that we packed it had abated although everything was wet.
After a great breakfast we left Le Pepic and turned right instead of left to initially follow the road instead of heading into the forest which promised to produce plenty of mud.
Following the road we reached the small village of Saint Christaud and its 12 century church where we spent half an hour with a local couple who provided us with the history of the beautifully renovated building.
Continuing on we passed a farm with ducks and geese and a very large water rat which obviously stealing food. The rat had a body well over 300mm long and an equally long tail.
From the farm we climbed up to the village of Monlezum where we were again given a conducted tour of the church by the farmer who owned the ducks and geese as well as the previously mentioned water rat.
From Monlezum it was an easy walk into Marciac where we are staying overnight in a rural hotel.
The accommodation is excellent and bears no relationship to Chez Edna where we stayed two nights ago.
After checking in we headed into town for lunch and to visit yet another church. Usually churches in the small villages are locked although today everywhere we we went we ran into local residents who wanted to open them for us.
