This morning after breakfast we were conducted to an ex hippy villa to obtain stamps for our credentials. As well as being treated to colourful wax stamps we were surprised to be surrounded by hens with chicks running around the garden and the proprietors daughter running around naked. This was an accommodation option that was thankfully rejected by Jane.
Our walk today started in Vidouse with the usual uphill to the church.
It was a pretty walk through to Lucarre although nothing outstanding. Again we were in the valley walking through fields of cereal crops or in oak forest.
At one point in a forest section we came across a man erecting scaffolding for the purpose of stringing nets to catch wood pigeons migrating back to Africa. Apparently this occurs every October.
After a break at Lucarre we headed for the small village of Momy in the heat and managed to miss a turning and consequently found that we were heading in whe wrong direction. As true pilgrims never go back and we eventually managed to navigate our way back onto the correct path.
From Momy it was only a short 2.8 kilometre walk to Anoye where we are spending the night in the Mairie which has beds for 12 pilgrims. (hopefully we will be the only residents tonight)
There are no shops in the village but every day someone opens a special room in the hostel so that pilgrims can find something for there evening meal. The choice of goods was very limited!
At this point we are struggling with the washing machine that has decided to cease operation with our clothes inside it and we are unable to unlock the door. This may be an opportunity to reduce the weight of our packs.
Eventually the local volunteers arrived throwing around the odd French expletive!! Judy & Jane regret allowing Paul & John to operate the machine .
