The highlight of today was not the beautiful scenery on our walk, it was the escape from Chez Edna following a breakfast of miniature fried eggs, canned tomatoes and mushrooms.
(probably imported from Leongatha)
Edna has owned the establishment for 20 years and has not yet found a duster. On a positive note it had hot water and beds.
The walk from L’lsle de Noe to Montesquiou was spectacular walking through oak forest and past farms and fields of sun flowers, soya beans and other cereal crops with the Pyrenees in the background. Apart from horses, cattle and goats we saw a red squirrel on the path in front of us.
More eye catching, though we’re the huge farms raising geese for Foi Gras - a huge business in the Gers. The goslings were free range, living a good but short life. Montesquiou we broke one of the golden rules of the Camino “always stop at the first open cafe or bar because there may not be a second one”
After wandering the length of the village looking for a suitable establishment we eventually had to return to the cafe that we initially passed up.
Leaving Montesquiou the weather was warming up and as a consequence we were more interested in covering the distance to our destination than the scenery.
Arriving in Pouylebon our reliable guide book informed us that there was a tap at the Marie although it failed to mention that while the tap existed that it was not connected to a water source.
Low on water we headed out of the village to find our accommodation which is on a farm, one and a half kilometres out of the village. This accommodation is excellent and cannot be compared with last night’s circus although I have been informed that there is only one option for the meal and its vegetarian.

Nothing wrong with vegetarian - when you have no choice 😊
