The day started with a search for the perfect patisserie for breakfast. This involved walking through the Marche Victor Hugo and several nearby streets. Eventually an excellent place was found complete with tasty croissants and good coffee.
After breakfast we decided to commence our Camino in order to cut down on our first official day of walking.
The chosen destination was the train station at Saint Martin du Touch 9 kilometres from Toulouse. Unfortunately this proved to be a bad decision as the station was on a little used line and while we arrived at 2:00pm, the next train would not arrive until after 5:00pm.
At this point we were befriended by a middle aged Algerian who escorted us to a bus stop 2 kilometres away that eventually delivered us to a Metro train station on a line that would take us back into the city.
On return we headed out in the rain to Basilique Saint Sernin to obtain the credentials and first stamps for our Camino.
At this point Paul and I headed for a bar while Judy and Jane went shopping with a plan to send any excess items to the hotel in Zaragoza where we will spend our last night on this walk.
