This morning we were up at 6:30am, breakfasted and at the Oviedo Cathedral at 7:00 looking for the way out of town. Eventually we found the right path and were on the road.
The forecast was for fine weather and we were once again able to get back into our shorts.
The walk today was pretty through small villages, past small farms and through forested areas on roads, tracks and small paths. The only disappointment was the large number of eucalyptus trees grown in the area.
There was nothing too strenuous today and after a days rest we had no difficulty with the terrain.
We stopped for refreshments at Paladin before the final 6 Km into Grado arriving at the Municipal Albergue at 1:30pm to find that we were 12th in line for two of the 16 available beds. By 2:00pm the Albergue was full and pilgrims were being turned away.
It appears that the bed race has reached the Camino Primitivo.
On arrival we were greeted by a Scottish Hospitalario (wearing a kilt) who provided us with drinks (water) and entertained us until check in time. We were pleasantly surprised to find that a number of the lower bunks were reserved for older pilgrims.
After being allocated beds we showered and walked across to the local bar for a meal of eggs, chips and ham (very Spanish). After the meal we were joined by our hospitalario for a drink.
Not wanting to participate in a bed race, Phil and I have already booked accommodation for tomorrow night.
