Last night was spent in a very pleasant hostel in Leon. Instead of the usual open bunk beds we provided with small cubicles of 4 beds complete with linen, a curtin and a private locker for our gear. The hostel also provided an excellent breakfast and a much needed washing service for our clothes.
This morning we met up with Jen and Dave, visiting the Cathedral and the Casa Botines built by Gaudi in 1891-1892. We then had a a long and excellent lunch in a local restaurant and spent the remainder of the afternoon preparing for tomorrow’s walk.
The weather here has been unseasonably cold with a maximum temperature in the order of 13 degrees and looks like staying that way for the next few days. Not a good omen for walking in the mountains. Usually at this time of year we would expect daytime temperatures of around 20 degrees and hopefully they will return soon.
The distance walked from Madrid to Sahagun by Phil and I is 270 kilometres.

I'm sure the guy next to the bloke in the red shirt is the Chairman of the Neerim South Most Honourable Mens' Shed. ??!!!
Cheers boys! Sounds like you're coping with some less than ideal conditions on this Camino. Hang in there.......we're all proud of you. G / Grae
