This morning when we awoke we were told that the Albergue in Pebaflor de Horija would be open tonight and that we could continue our walk as planned. Unfortunately we had already booked non refundable accommodation for the night in Valladolid, making it an expensive option to abandon

Accordingly we set off at around 8:00am for Valladolid together with Karl (another Australian walking the Camino de Madrid).

We were able to obtain breakfast on the outskirts of Valladolid after around 6 Km of walking following the cycle track between Puente Duero and the city (Valladolid has a population in excess of 300,000). Once we were well into the City we were able to escape the roads and follow the river Duero into the centre.

On arrival we checked

into our accommodation on the 4th floor (no lift) of an old building in the centre of the old part of the city. The accommodation has a very nice shared bathroom and we were clearly instructed to sit on the toilet and not pee pee on the floor.

After settling in we wandered around the city centre, visited a couple of churches, sat through a mass and found the plaza mayor.

The temperature today has been cold with a maximum of 14 degrees ( good walking weather but not so good for standing around)

Tomorrow we will travel by train to Medina de Rioseco and catch up with Jen and Dave.
